Yes, an explorer. Without him by my side I never would have come to know almost every curve on most of Santa Cruz Mountain roads. It was our shared curiosity that started our long trips into the mountains, including 25 miles uphill to see the Mt Hamilton Observatory. It's likely I would have never become a professional cyclist without him.
