the Swallow

James passed his swallow test today. He is now allowed to drink water--a lovely, tall glass of water.

We were advised that the stomach PEG may be removed. We are joyous.

Imogen joined a local children's Shakespeare company--they will work on the Tempest through fall and winter.

Seems appropriate to have some will here too:

Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea
But sad mortality o’er-sways their power,
How with this rage shall beauty hold a plea,
Whose action is no stronger than a flower?
O, how shall summer’s honey breath hold out
Against the wrackful siege of batt’ring days,
When rocks impregnable are not so stout,
Nor gates of steel so strong, but time decays?
O fearful meditation! where, alack,
Shall time’s best jewel from time’s chest lie hid?
Or what strong hand can hold his swift foot back?
Or who his spoil of beauty can forbid?
O, none, unless this miracle have might,
That in black ink my love may still shine bright.

James has a few more weeks of out-patient therapy and then, his body will be among us, restored.

His brain is another story.

I have been playing phone tag with the scheduler for James's cognitive assessment. We hope to have that done this week or next. We now will focus on the last bit, truly, the most important part.

Perhaps, we will have to celebrate James's birthday in October with cake at our house.  Open studio!

Imogen wants to be a devil baby for Halloween.  I will be the devil mother. James, of course, will be an angel.
